Hand and Upper Limb Surgeon

Training

Dr Michael Perret is a fellowship trained orthopaedic and hand surgeon with experience in treating conditions of the hand and upper limb.

Dr Perret completed his medical training at the University of Western Australia, graduating with honours in 2007. After concluding his specialist surgical training through the Australian Orthopaedic Association program in 2017, Dr Perret was admitted as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Dr Perret has since completed further sub-specialty training in hand and upper limb surgery. He gained experience treating shoulder and elbow conditions in professional athletes including AFL players during a fellowship at Melbourne Orthopaedic Group in Victoria. Subsequently he completed the Hand and Upper Limb Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, gaining experience in all aspects of hand and wrist surgery, including microsurgery.

Current Practice

Dr Perret enjoys treating patients with elective and traumatic conditions of the hand and upper limb. He has an interest in reconstructive, arthroscopic and trauma surgery. Joint replacements and deformity corrections are performed using modern techniques with computer guided preoperative planning and custom instrumentation.

In addition to private practice, Dr Perret practices elective upper limb and general orthopaedic trauma surgery at Royal Perth Hospital, and has an appointment at the Fremantle Hospital Hand Surgery Service. He is a member of the Royal Perth Hospital State Trauma Committee.

Dr Perret is published in international journals including the American Journal of Sports Medicine, and is a trainee supervisor for the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
